Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about the Project DPro course and learning experience.
Who is Social Good DPro for?
Social Good DPro is designed for people who manage or contribute to projects in nonprofits, charities, community groups, and public sector organizations. It is appropriate for both new and experienced project team members, including staff and volunteers who want a practical, structured approach to managing projects.
How does Social Good DPro relate to Project DPro
Social Good DPro builds on the same project management foundation as Project DPro. The case studies provide a useful way to understand their different emphasis:
- Project DPro uses the UNITAS case study, focused on development aid in a rural community, including a water and sanitation project.
- Social Good DPro uses the Havenford case study, focused on social services in an urban center, including a project serving unhoused youth.
Both help you develop practical project management capability. The case study gives you a setting in which to explore the tools; you can adapt what you learn to other projects and communities.
Which course should I choose
Choose the course whose examples are closest to your work. Project DPro is a useful fit for people working in development and humanitarian contexts. Social Good DPro is a useful fit for people delivering social services and community projects. You do not need to work in the same location or type of project as the case study to benefit from either course.
How much time should I plan to spend on the course each week?
Plan to spend approximately 4–5 hours each week over the four-week course. Because the course is asynchronous, you can complete most activities on your own schedule while participating in discussions and other facilitated learning activities during each week.
Does completing the course earn me Project DPro certification?
Completing the course prepares you for the Social Good DPro certification exam, but completing the course itself does not earn the certification. Certification is awarded after successfully passing the exam. Visit the PM4NGOs website for more information.
What happens if I have questions or need help during the course?
An experienced facilitator will support you throughout the course. Facilitators answer questions, provide feedback, guide discussions, and help you connect Social Good DPro concepts to your own work and experience.
